FLEET is part of the USA Swimming system, where development flows through a long ladder from entry-level lessons to national qualifying times and college recruiting. The head coach must build a long-term athlete-development philosophy, lead coaches, and serve as the primary deck coach for the senior group. The facilities include a 10-lane 50-meter outdoor pool and an indoor dry-land room. This outdoor long-course setup is a genuine advantage: athletes learn to cope with wind, heat, and changing water conditions. The Chinese? There is no Chinese here. The deeper issue is governance. The job notice states that the head coach reports to the board but owns swim-specific decisions. That separation is healthy, yet it also signals potential friction. A good board will respect the head coach's technical authority even during a losing season. A good head coach will insist on measurable development goals rather than vague promises. The real risk is not the pool. It is whether the board and the coach share the same definition of long-term success. A team does not collapse overnight.
